Q. Hello Simon. I have arranged to view a house on sale with Darlows in Cardiff Road this Saturday at 10am. The house is in Heol Fair and i was hoping a local electrician could take a look at the wiring at the same time. Would you be able to meet me there and give me your opinion? Thanks Kate.
A. Hello Kate. Yes, this Saturday at 10am is available. I would be able to carry out a visual inspection and could advise if a full electrical inspection (which includes testing) would be a good idea. Does this sound OK? Thanks, Simon
Q. I think there may be a problem my electric cooker. Tonight is the third evening this week the rcd tripped when the double oven was in use. Are you available one day this week to investigate as i don’t think this problem is going to go away on its own! I live on Ely Road, near the Pencisely Road junction.
A. Hi. Yes, I can investigate that for you tomorrow between 4 and 6 pm. If this is convenient for you, please reply with your full address. Thanks Simon
Q. We have recently moved to The Avenue in Llandaff and looking for a registered electrician in Cardiff to price up some electrical work including a new consumer unit and shower circuit. When would you be able to call in and provide a quote to complete the work?
A. I can call in any evening this week between 6 and 7pm if that is going to be convenient?
Q. Hello Simon. I have a shop on High Street near the Cathedral and experiencing random power loss due to the rcd tripping. We thought it was a problem with the kettle but after buying another one discovered it’s not unfortunately! When could you come out to troubleshoot this?
A. Hello. I am completing some work in The Grange today, so could call in sometime between 4 and 5 pm if convenient?
Q. Everytime the bathroom extractor fan operates the rcd trips in main fuse board above the front door causing the downstairs sockets and lights to loose power at the same time. I have left for work now and will be out all day. I live on Bridge Street (Mitre Place end). How soon could you call in to investigate this for me?
A. If there is a fan isolator present, you could remove the power from the fan by turning it to the off position. Most electricians install them above the door, inside a nearby cupboard, or in the loft. If you will be home later, i can attend between 6 and 7pm.
